Intersec Forum 2019: top speakers discuss the future of connected security technology in buildings

8 Mar 2019

Intersec Forum brings together experts for connecting security technology in digital buildings at ISH, the world’s leading trade fair for HVAC + Water. Around 30 speakers will illuminate the challenges currently facing planners, installation contractors and operators of security systems – and give ISH visitors the opportunity to increase their specialist knowledge and make new business contacts. The conference is being held in Hall 10.3 on the second and third days of ISH 2019, 12 and 13 March.

The digitalisation of building-services technology in the fields of planning, construction, usage and operation is having significant impact on safety and security technology. Fire-alarm technology, emergency-call systems and evacuation procedures must be controlled flexibly and reliably. At the same time, modern sensor, radio and IP technologies and their interconnection make possible efficient solutions for holistic concepts, such as access control and other functions.

Designed in accordance with data security and the relevant standards, professionally installed and correctly maintained connected solutions have a great potential for success. At Intersec Forum on 12 and 13 March 2019, experts from renowned institutes and suppliers will discuss conditions, solutions and recommendations for the purposeful application of such methods for the planning, installation and operation of safety and security systems.

Four main themes

The main themes of this year’s Intersec Forum are ‘Fire protection: early detection and alarming’, ‘Cyber security: connectivity and new business models’, ‘New challenges for planners and installation specialists: BIM and building-contract law’ and ‘Semantic interoperability: platforms and protocols’. Intersec Forum begins with the subject of ‘Semantic interoperability: platforms and protocols’ in the morning of 12 March with questions about controlling systems via standard technology platforms and the cyber security of connected automatic solutions. On the platform will be experts from software supplier Advancis Software & Services, electrical installation technology manufacturer Busch-Jaeger Elektro and the EEBUS interdisciplinary network of manufacturers from the fields of connected home automation, electric mobility and energy.

The afternoon will focus on cyber security: the challenges on data security for technologies in buildings and the resulting new responsibilities and potential business models for installation and maintenance will be discussed by representatives of the German Federal Office for Information Security (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik – BSI), Honeywell Business Technologies, specialists for building automation and management, Sauter, Siemens Building Technologies and Finland’s remote-maintenance specialists Tosibox.

The second day of the conference (13 March) begins with the subject of fire protection with specialists from Bosch Building Technologies, fire-protection system developers Hekatron and Siemens Building Technologies, as well as experts for smoke and heat-extraction systems for building-services technologies STG-BEIKIRCH, reporting on developments in the fields of software-aided fire detection and very early detection via IP-based acoustic and voice alarm systems, as well as ultra-modern smoke control systems.

The second afternoon of Intersec Forum spotlights the demands placed on planners and installation specialists by BIM and the new building-contract law. Experts from the Facility Management Department of Middle Hesse University of Applied Sciences (TH Mittelhessen), the Fraunhofer Building Innovation Alliance, Groben Ingenieure planning office, Siemens Building Technologies Germany and lawyers Kapellmann & Partner Rechtsanwälte will discuss the technical, organisation and legal aspects of Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Intersec Forum is being held in Hall 10.3 of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre on the second and third days (Tuesday and Wednesday) of ISH – The World’s Leading Trade Fair for HVAC + Water – in the immediate vicinity of exhibitors from the plant, room and building automation and energy management segments. There, visitors will find lecture and exhibition areas with partners from the fields of BIM, building services, technical installations, the real-estate business and universities. The Intersec Forum programme is now available online. Participation is included in the prices of the ISH admission ticket.
