Ferbruary 2020
German textile laundry association Deutscher Textilreinigungsverband (DTV) estimates the entire textile services industry’s turnover to be about € 4.5 billion. While the turnover of organised laundries and dry cleaners has been increasing constantly since 2009, the number of people employed in the industry has been declining for the past five years. Developments like digitalisation are changing the world of work and the nature of jobs. What they will look like in the future and how sustainability, new technologies and automatization are impacting the industry will be in the spotlight at Texcare International from 20th to 24th June 2020.
A preview to the trade show programme was given at a press conference on 11th February 2020. Elgar Straub, managing director of Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies at VDMA, Andreas Schumacher, managing director of DTV, Johannes Schmid-Wiedersheim, head of brand management Textile Care & Cleaning at Messe Frankfurt and Kerstin Horaczek, Group Show Director Technology at Messe Frankfurt, were among the experts present at the event.
“Once again, the trade show will take place in halls 8 and 9, which means it can continue to add space and offer an even broader range of products and services”, said Kerstin Horaczek. International industry leaders will get together on an exhibition space of 38,000 square metres to present their smart solutions for improved competitiveness and more sustainability and customer orientation. An open conference in the Trend Forum in hall 8.0 will offer panel discussions and keynote speeches by international experts. Again, Texcare International’s trade show programme includes a fashion catwalk in the Galleria between halls 8.0 and 9.0 and the Best Practices Award in the evening of the 20th of June. The trade show will also broach the issue of staff retention against the background of skills shortage. Young professionals will be in the spotlight of the new Young Texcare competition on 24th of June.
The last edition of Texcare International in 2016 attracted more than 300 exhibitors and roughly 16,000 visitors, with more than half coming from abroad.
